What is a Google Place ID?
A Google Place ID is a text identifier for a place in Google’s database, such as ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4. It helps tools identify a specific listing rather than relying only on its name.
Place IDs are used by Google Maps and the Places API. They can change over time, so check the destination before printing cards and refresh older IDs periodically.
- Direct review links
- Customers land on the five-star box, not a search page they have to navigate.
- Printable QR codes
- Give customers a quick route to your listing or review page. Test your code before printing.
- Integrations
- Widgets, booking systems and reputation tools all key off the Place ID.
- API access
- Pull live ratings, review counts and opening hours through the Places API.
Getting the link used
-
Invite every customer
Give every customer a chance to share an honest review, whatever their experience. A receipt or follow-up message lets them respond in their own time.
-
Put the QR where hands already are
Counter, receipt, table tent, back of the invoice, the van door. Scanning is the lowest-friction ask you have; typing a business name into Maps is not.
-
Send the link, not the instructions
“Search for us on Google and leave a review” loses most people. One tappable link, in a text message, right after the visit, does not.
-
Reply to every review
Responses are public, they're read by the next customer, and they make the next reviewer more likely to bother.
Google allows you to ask any customer for a review. It does not allow incentives, and it does not allow filtering out unhappy customers before you ask — that's review gating, and it's a policy violation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my Google Place ID?
Enter your business name and city in the Place ID finder, then choose the matching Google Maps listing. You can also paste a Google Maps link or enter a Place ID you already have. Check the business name and address before copying the ID.
How do I create a Google review link or QR code?
Select your business in the finder, open the review link to check its destination, then use the QR code or Review cards tab to customize and download your design. Use Direct place when you want customers to view the Maps listing instead of opening the review page.
Is GetPlaceID an official Google tool?
No. GetPlaceID is an independent Place ID finder and review-link tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Is this really free?
Try one business without an account. After that, create a verified account to select up to three businesses per day. Each business includes its links, QR codes and card downloads; reopening the same business that day does not use another allowance. Account allowances reset at midnight Philippine time. One account can be registered per public IP address, so shared networks share that registration restriction.
Do I need a Google API key?
No. Searching by name uses the Places API on our key. The other two tabs — paste a link, or enter an ID — don't call Google at all and produce exactly the same review link and QR code.
My business doesn't come up.
Add the street address and state. If it still doesn't appear the listing may be unverified or suspended. Open it in Google Maps instead, copy the URL from the address bar, and use the “Paste a Maps link” tab.
Can I paste a short maps.app.goo.gl link?
Yes — paste it and it works. A short link hides the ID until something expands it, and your browser is not allowed to expand another site's link, so this page asks the server to follow the redirect for you. If the expanded link turns out to identify the business by CID rather than Place ID, the name is looked up automatically.
Does the review link work on phones?
Yes — it opens the Google Maps app or the mobile browser with the rating box ready. Google does require the reviewer to be signed in to a Google account; no link can skip that step.
Is a Place ID the same as a CID?
No. A CID is an older numeric identifier that still shows up in some Maps URLs. The Place ID is the current identifier used across Google's APIs and the one nearly every tool asks for.
How long does a Place ID last?
Long enough to print, but it isn't guaranteed forever. Google's own documentation says a Place ID can change — most often when a business moves, closes and reopens, or when Google reworks its record of the place — and recommends refreshing any ID older than about twelve months. A rename or a new phone number won't break it, which is the case that matters for a printed card. Before a large print run, or once a year, paste the link back in and check it still lands on your listing.
